      The poor countries export item no. 1, alas. Sambia is 9th from the bottom on the income index of the world, which is fine for the servitude/slavery employment relationships you find especially in the oil-affluent countries. But all too many – especially women – have no other choice.

         Yes, and of course in those affluent countries „maids“ has more than a wiff of euphemism to it.
