14km of traveling by bike in winter rain was one of the price components I had to pay to take delivery of a 40 year old lens, a venerable 58mm beauty manufactured by the long ago deceased camera maker Minolta. I had bought it from a seller in Australia, and of course the customs office demanded its share of the total price, and so I went there to pay.
Not being sure if 58mm was a good focal length for my way of seeing, the purchase could be considered a gamble, but in the end it wasn’t – today’s first walk with the lens proved to be productive, and I am more than content with the results.
