Carl, the surface of Krk is indeed dominated by limestone, which is also the reason for the vast dry areas like the Plato Mjeseca, the plateau of the moon. That falling dry was enforced by wood cutting in the middle ages, both for shipbuilding and heating purposes, devastating huge coastal areas.
