The bit of compression from the longer than normal lens helps to make the New seem to loom over the Old. Really works.
The development of settlements after the end of the Tito government in former Yugoslavia is usually quite brutal: in the touristic hotspots you rarely find derelict buildings any more, instead replaced by multi storey secondary residence premises very often most ambitious architecture.
In this part of the Croation coast, strong cold winds diminuish the pressure of tourism, and so the development happens at a much slower pace, hopefully with better results.
