Earlier already I already had written about the admiration of and affection for the U.S. here in Germany. At the spring festival this became very obvious: basically all roundabouts featured the German dreams of America, in the boldest colors as appropriate for such an event. Me, I am obviously neither a fan of unreflected love nor of bold colors. Therefore picturing this fun ride covered in rain was just the right thing to do – and it also hints to the scratches this German love for all things America has suffered from the excessive spying of the N.S.A. The European point of view on privacy is different.
